Troubleshooting & FAQ
When something looks wrong — quick fixes, what's expected behavior, and where data lives.
At a glance
Eight things that look broken but usually aren't, in the words you'd actually use to describe them — plus the one chain to follow when something really is wrong. Each entry links to the page that owns the full story; this page is the fast, searchable index, not a replacement for it.
Troubleshooting
- "The screen is missing pieces — half the sidebar or boards are gone." That's Focus Mode. Press Alt+F to leave it, or click Exit Focus Mode.
- "Text looks masked or blurred out." That's Privacy Mode, hiding client data on purpose. Press Alt+P to bring it back.
- "A Kard — or a ticket — I know I have isn't showing up." For a Kard, a quick filter or a Domain selection is almost always narrowing the library grid — click All Kards in the Command Center to clear it (see The Kard Library). For a ticket, check you're on the right day: a scheduled item with no time sits in that day's Unscheduled zone, not on the hourly grid (see TSB).
- "I did something and it looks like it didn't save." Kards, Domains and Categories warn you the moment browser storage is full — but tickets don't: a full TJB save can fail silently, with the card still looking fine on screen. Check the Event Console (Alt+Y) for a "ticket board save failed" entry to confirm (see TJB). Either way, the fix is the same: export what you have first, then free up space in this browser.
- "A tool says it can't reach the server." A handful of Toolbox tools — the HTTP Header Inspector, Port Reachability, the SSL Certificate Checker, the MAC Address Lookup's vendor name and Whois for registries without RDAP — ask Kashic's server, once you're signed in. Check your connection and try again in a moment. See The Toolbox for more.
- "I clicked Help and nothing opened." Your browser likely blocked the pop-up. A toast names the exact address to open yourself — e.g. "Help is available at HELP/index.html" — or allow pop-ups for this site so Alt+H opens the right page directly next time.
- "Something feels broken and none of the above fits." Work through it in
order: Alt+R for a Hard Refresh (reloads the app —
the fix for most one-off glitches), then Integrity
Check (Ctrl+Alt+I) to see what's actually unhealthy,
then the Event Console (Alt+Y) to
read exactly what happened, in order, with a timestamp.
Is a Hard Refresh safe to click? Yes. Your Kards, tickets, schedule and settings are saved as you go and all survive it. If something is in progress — a Kard generating, or a ticket draft you haven't created yet — Refresh stops and tells you what it would lose before doing anything, so you can carry on or cancel. When nothing is at stake it just refreshes, with no question asked. Canceling leaves everything exactly as it was. A generation that gets refreshed away cannot be resumed, so if a Kard is mid-build it's worth letting it finish. - "Where is my data, exactly?" In two places. Your Kards live in your account and follow you to any machine you sign in on. Your tickets, schedule, and every setting stay in this browser, on this machine (see Welcome). That cuts both ways: clearing this browser's site data, or switching to a different browser or machine, loses the board and the settings — your Kards survive it — unless you've exported a backup first.
